A movie and a TV show...
In this week's P.O. Box:
Some weekend entertainment
Stream roundup: Thanksgiving week
On tap: Block Party, Off & On The Clock, After Dark, Week 12 Cram
On my radar: Sims
I don’t get around to watching much TV or movies during the football season.
It’s mainly RedZone, Survivor, and the occasional reality TV slop (the new season of The Ultimatum was quite a ride fwiw).
But recently, I found time for a movie and a TV show that I loved.
Figured we could use a change of pace around here from all of the fantasy footballing…
🎯 The Killer (Netflix)
This is the new film from David Fincher and it doesn’t disappoint.
If you only saw the trailer or log line, you’d assume it was a very serious movie about a cold, remorseless assassin.
It is to an extent, but the entire movie tracks the fallout from him fumbling a mission.
Watching him narrate his way through the mess is legitimately funny. It’s not that he’s bad at his job per se, but more so that he throws standard procedures and protocol out the window.
There’s something very humorous about a very serious assassin on tilt and I can’t recommend it enough.
🏡 The Curse (Paramount+)
I was worried I had Nathan Fielder fatigue after The Rehearsal quite literally lost the plot and got lost in a maze of meta inceptions, but The Curse has been phenomenal two episodes in.
On the surface, the show is a spoof of an HGTV-esque house-flipping show (“Flip-lanthropy”!) hosted by two aggressively woke hosts played by Fielder and Emma Stone. In addition to satirizing lefty do-goodery, we still get all of the discomfort and cringe that made Nathan For You such a fun watch.
It’s surreal to watch a legit movie star like Emma Stone slum it on Paramount+ with Fielder, but it’s easy to see why she wanted this role. She’s perfect for it.
Knowing Fielder (and Benny Safdie), we shouldn’t get comfortable, but I’m excited for wherever the ride takes us.
💎 Week 12 Hidden Gems for Battle Royale & DFS. It’s a gross slate, but we found some gems for Week 12 who are going undrafted…
☕️ Bad Injuries & Big Whiffs (Week 11 DFS Recap). This was not our week, but the show must go on. We review our Week 11 DFS teams, featuring underwhelming triple stacks and too many snowflakes from players who didn't finish the game (De'Von Achane, Curtis Samuel). We also discuss takeaways involving a chalk smash and how to think about bring backs in GPPs. We then recap our Underdog Fantasy Week 11 teams, which included way too much Sam Laporta, and scope out the winning teams and how they constructed the teams. We wrap up with a review of our Best Ball Mania IV portfolio, including five teams in the Top 10,000.
🏆️ Fantasy Life roundup. Recapped 4 brutal injuries from Week 11, got excited about changes with the Jets and Steelers, and shared my favorite hidden gems for the Thanksgiving slate.
💪 Swolecast: Draftkings Week 12 picks. The only show in the industry doing first look content.
☣️ No LOLZ this week, sorry…
I'm in Pete's streamyard waiting room for lolz. You guys think I wait it out or just go eat?

🚢 Shipgiving Spectacular. 4-hours of drinking, merriment, Google maps, calling moms, Canadaian lessons, Excel drafts on Gretch dot com and knowing Boyle.
This was incredible... so much fun. Just disappointed I wasn't watching it live!

I’ve been using the sims at The Solver this season and it’s greatly improved my DFS play.
You can hand build lineups and then simulate how the lineup does in specific contest types and see an expected ROI. This allows you test specific variables and assumptions (which 2v2 grades out better; is it better to double or triple stack, should I include a bring back, etc. etc.) and ultimately build better lineups.
I know a lot of people in the Discord have asked me about it and have also been hoping for a discount, so I wanted to pass along the email I received about their Black Friday sale available for everyone. Here’s the info:
