In this week's P.O. Box:

  • A trip to Denver

  • Content roundup: Divisional Round previews

  • Book Club: Diving into a new Murakami

I’m in Denver this weekend for my annual Divisional Round trip with college buddies.

Over the past five years we’ve done Biloxi, Tahoe, Boston, Palm Springs, Scottsdale, and now my hometown.

When we booked the trip months ago, we had no idea the Broncos would be hosting a Divisional Round game. The thought legitimately didn’t even cross my mind. Sorry for the disrespect, Mr. Nix and Payton.

We had already bought tickets to go to the Avalanche game last night, but our crew quickly realized that we absolutely had to take advantage of the stars aligning for an NFL game landing in the city we’d be in for the weekend.

Then I got this YouTube comment after my show:

Thanks to Aaron, who did indeed save us a shit ton of money on fees, we will be in attendance for the first Broncos home playoff game in a decade.

The other serendipitous part about this trip is I was able to take April out with me to stay with her grandparents. I get a bros trip, my parents get some precious grandkid time, and Lauren gets a much needed weekend to herself.

Here’s to hoping this string of Ws continues with all of our betting the rest of this weekend…

🤓 FANTASY LIFE: Newsletter Roundup. This week in the newsletter we recapped the Wildcard Round, previewed Divisional Round, shared some tips for Guilloteenie leagues, and previewed Round 1 of 2026 fantasy drafts. I also drafted some Divisional Round teams on stream Thursday.

💪 THE SWOLECAST: Divisional Round NFL DFS Picks. The “all business” titles for these Swolecast shows are very funny when you consider the actual content.

POURTFOLIO REVIEW: The Playoff Best Ball Portfolio Is In Shambles. That title is a bit hyperbolic, but it is always hilarious tabbing through advancing playoff best ball teams with a bunch of dead roster spots.

🚢 SHIP CHASING: Sam Sherman’s $2M Sweat. Relive Sam’s epic sweat in less than 2 minutes.

No shows this weekend. I’ll plan on spinning up a Pourtfolio Review on Tuesday am to recap the weekend’s action.

I also plan to spin up the 2026 Resolutions post by next week and connect with Davis for a show on the same topic.

It feels good to be reading a Murakami again. There is something so soothing about the way he writes and the worlds he bits, which svyatogornyj hits on here:

I will say, though…one thing I particularly like about most Murakami novels is how he roots things in a really grounded reality at the beginning and then things slowly start to devolve into the surreal in a way that really blurs the lines of what is real and what is fantastical.

This book has a slightly different structure in that it ping pongs back in forth from the “real” world and this imagined city. It’s not a deal breaker or anything, but for now I’ve found myself more interested in the relationship between the boy and the girl than the imaginary town.
