In this week's P.O. Box:
How my 2025 goals are shaking out
Stream roundup: My first Calcutta auction
DFS After Dark: A high-stakes draft
It’s been three months since I tried to sketch out a “roadmap” for 2025 aka some goals for the year.
Considering, my work will pick up greatly after the NFL Draft in two weeks, I figured now would be a good time to do a quarterly check-in and see how we are doing with some of these…
❌ A fitness challenge. I had been tossing around the idea of setting a running goal around a 5k time, but ultimately decided I didn’t want to spend all of my exercise time running. While I don’t have a specific goal/challenge at the moment, I am enjoying my lifting program right now and currently focusing on going hard/pushing to failure as much as possible.
🟡 Book Club pt. 2. We aren’t on the same pace as we were last year when we were banging out 2 books/month, but I’m enjoying the more relaxed cadence. Empire Of Pain really gripped me.
✅ More stretching/yoga. I’ve been going to a yoga studio two times/week. I’ve discovered that I love doing yoga before lifting as a warm-up, so I’ve been trying to stack those two together as much as possible.
✅ Offseason work/content projects. I’ve been getting up earlier this year on week days to write and work on projects. It’s a new-ish thing for me, but it’s allowed me to get in a lot of focused work in a short amount of time with no distractions. I’m chipping away at a big project that I’ll share more details on this summer, but I still have a long way to go.
The Deposit Kingdom videos will start to rip again after the Draft (check out the Trump spoof and the Travis Hunter one if you haven’t yet).
🟡 Less phone time. Becoming a hardcore #hoops guy for a few months made it tough to ditch the phone fully, but I’ve still been good at maintaining my no phone in the bedroom rule and ditching it for large chunks of the weekend. Hoping to keep that momentum going this summer.
✅ Alcohol detox. This is probably the one I’m most proud of. This stretch has to mark the least amount of alcohol I’ve consumed in a long, long time. I haven’t had a sip of the Devil’s juice inside my house so far this year. And when I do partake, it’s a special occasion (date night w/ Lauren, birthday party, etc.).
My sleep has improved greatly because of this and it’s also been much, much easier to keep up with health goals when cutting out the extra calories.
