This is a hodgepodge kind of week as I enter my busiest stretch of the offseason. Some stray thoughts…

Album of the year candidate. It’s been awhile since we had a music recc around here…mainly because nothing has knocked my socks off in 2026. But that’s no longer the case as I’ve recently become obsessed with Star Moles’ Highway to Hell. There’s shades of Aimee Mann, Adrianne Lenker (Big Thief), and Maggie Rogers here, but this batch of bedroom pop songs feels so fresh. “Overdog” is the showstopper, but I love this whole thing from start to finish.

“Looking for trouble.” April, now 3.5, is getting good at pushing our buttons, trying to see how far she can take stuff. Bed time has gone from a pretty standard routine to a battle. It’s often frustrating, but sometimes I can’t help but laugh. The other day she threw something and I asked her why she did that. Her answer? “I was looking for trouble.” Yes, yes you were.

4th of July. Every summer we visit our friends on Martha’s Vineyard. This was our tenth year doing it and our third year taking April. These annual shots of her on the ferry give me way too many emotions. She starts pre-school in two months 😭 …

So You Think You Can Tout. We are nearing the finish line for So You Think You Can Tout. We released a very fun episode on Monday—The Interview—and it brought a familiar face back into the competition. Then we immediately dove into “Stream Week,” which included a mega stream with Davis and a special edition of Best Ball Breakfast.
