In this week's P.O. Box:

  • Trip recap

  • Content roundup

  • Book Club: It’s picking up

Nothing makes me feel more washed than when I return from a weekend trip featuring late nights and imbibing. Toss in a three-hour time change and daylight saving time and I essentially needed a full two days to recover. Oof.

Anyways, here are some stray thoughts from the week…

Dawg Bowl recap. The Underdog NBA Dawg Bowl in LA was an incredible time. We watched the Lakers roll vs. the Pacers on Friday night (Luke went for 44 aka .5 Bams), hit a sauna/cold plunge place on Saturday morning (I got the Badge Bros hooked), yacht party Saturday night (ya brah, that’s my board below), and of course, the drafts/watch party on Sunday.

S/o to Gumby for shipping the whole shebang for $200K. He put together a little vlog from the weekend if you want some more flavor and I put up a few more pics on the ‘gram.

NFL Free Agency whirlwind. I covered the big winners for Fantasy Life, as well as some of the secondary signings and the guys who stayed put and saw their stock rise. The ADP Chasing crew covered every relevant move on Tuesday’s show and then I hopped in a couple of Big Board drafts for Best Ball Breakfast on Wednesday. There are two players I can’t stop drafting and one player I never want to draft again.

Baseball guy? I truly wish I had the bandwidth to obsess over more sports than just NFL, but I do love dabbling. On Tuesday’s OOTC, we brought on DarkSheep from Stacking Dingers for a high level overview of MLB best ball for noobies like me. We then drafted a team in The Dinger—a contest with a $200k top prize.

Other content notes:

  • A Swolecast show definitely happened this week…Nez joined…but don’t ask me what we discussed, I truly don’t remember. Also—join our Survivor contest on Splash. 10k guaranteed to first.

  • Tonight on After Dark, Fantasy Life’s Kendall Valenzuela joins me to discuss her Seahawks winning the Super Bowl, her experience on Radio Row, and her favorite moves from Free Agency. 🧱 Book #2 for February (50%): Lincoln In The Bardo by George Saunders

It’s funny that we have now had back-to-back books where I was pretty disappointed after a bumpy start but then got locked in by the middle. I’ve been much more interested since Lincoln’s night visit to the cemetery than I was with the hard-to-follow ghost chorus at the start.

🧱 Book #1 for January (COMPLETED): The City and Its Uncertain Walls by Haruki Murakami.
