Where Does Milk Come From?
Great clickbait...
In this week's P.O. Box:
5 Things On My Radar
Stream roundup: March Madness
Book Club: April selection
I feel like I have a ton of random things kicking around in my head, but nothing that warrants a “full intro” post, so let’s run back the “X Things On My Radar” format from a few weeks ago…
🏋️ Not counting reps. I recently saw gym bros like Rudman and Andy discussing not counting their reps during sets and instead focusing on RPE (rate of perceived exertion) and/or pushing to failure. Conceptually, I love the idea. Lately, I’ve been doing a program with lower reps/higher weight lately, so it pairs nicely. That said, the brain is cruel. When I try to count reps, I lose track. When I try not to, I can’t shake the subconscious count running in the background like a metronome. I’ll keep at it.
🧙 Lost the magic. It’s sad. I used to love March Madness. It was my favorite sporting event by a country mile as a kid all the way through my early twenties. And during that stretch I was able to devote the entirety of my attention to it. As I’ve gotten older and more busy, it’s harder to let the madness fully consume me. I’ll fill out a couple brackets, tail some of JonBoy’s bets, etc., but I don’t think I’ll ever be able to recapture the magic of ditching work at noon to go watch every single Thursday game. #takemeback
📆 The NFL Draft is in 34 days. Five weeks from today, the first round of the NFL Draft will finally be in the books. In some ways—like when I see people debating Pro Day 40-times—it’s exhausting to think we are that far away. On the other hand, I wish it were even further away. I love this slow time of year for getting stuff done before the rat race of best ball summer begins. I’m working on a bigger project right now, along with an ambitious video for the Deposit Kingdom channel (should be ready early next week), and appreciate all of the time I can get.
💔 Anora. By this time last year, I had seen almost all of the Best Picture noms. I’m way behind this year, though finally got to Anora this week. I loved Sean Baker’s Florida Project, so I was primed to enjoy this—and I fully did. The first third, in particular, felt particularly special in a way you forget you are watching a movie and are lost in it. I’m going to try to hit The Brutalist and I’m Still Here next.
🐄 Where does milk come from? I was reading a book about farm animals with April the other night and asked her that question. She snap replied, “The fridge.”
Hard to disagree…

🤓 FANTASY LIFE: Late-Round QBs To Target (& Fade). Went through all of the late-round QBs and shared how I’d approach them in current drafts.

⏰ OFF & ON THE CLOCK: Values In Current Big Board Drafts. Drafted a sweet team with Jon.

I did start another Erik Larson book the other night (Dead Wake), but wanted to make an “official” selection for April so people have time to track it down.
This book might be the recommendation I’ve gotten the most since launching the Club and now feels as good of time as ever to fire it up…
🚂 Book #3 for April: The Fish That Ate the Whale: The Life and Times of America’s Banana King by Rich Cohen
“The fascinating untold tale of Samuel Zemurray, the self-made banana mogul who went from penniless roadside banana peddler to kingmaker and capitalist revolutionary...
Working his way up from a roadside fruit peddler to conquering the United Fruit Company, Zemurray became a symbol of the best and worst of the United States: proof that America is the land of opportunity, but also a classic example of the corporate pirate who treats foreign nations as the backdrop for his adventures.”
Sounds like a fitting follow-up to Empire of Pain.
💉 Book #2 for March (FINISHED): Empire of Pain by Patrick Radden Keefe.
🐃 Book #1 for February (FINISHED): The Heart in Winter by Kevin Barry

I’ll have a DFS After Dark either tonight or tomorrow at 8pm ET, but behind on booking guests and still waiting to hear back.
