Getting better at DFS...
In this week's P.O. Box:
Single-lineup Pete
Stream roundup: A winning week
On tap: Block Party, Off & On The Clock, DFS After Dark, Week 3 Cram
On my radar: A garage gym update
Iāve simplified a lot of things in my life over the past year.
Most of it was born out of necessityāI needed to get more efficient with my time after becoming a Dad last December so I could continue doing all of the things I enjoy doing.
The latest thing Iāve massively simplified compared to pre-Dad Pete is how I play NFL DFS.
Up until this season, I used to spend ungodly amounts of time prepping, researching, consuming content, building lineups, and tinkering with said lineups for a Sunday Main slate.
Donāt get me wrongāsome of that process was incredibly fun, but most of it was 1) unnecessary and 2) making me a worse player.
For the 2023 season, I decided I would make one single lineup each week as opposed to a handful.
Part of this was simply to save time, but I also hoped it would help me focus and make better lineups instead of getting pulled in a million directions while trying to jam in every single play I like on a slate.
Itās only Week 3, but the early returns have been solid.
I shipped the Week 2 Deposit Kingdom tournament (a weekly single-entry contest that is shared in the Discord) and had multiple Top 10 finishes across a few different tournaments with the same lineup.
If you want to get more in the weeds on the lineup, I broke it all down in this weekās Pourtfolio Review:
Itās way too early to make any sweeping conclusionsāand I could just as easily find myself on the wrong side of variance for a string of weeks because thatās just GPP bro lifeābut at the very least Iāve shaved off multiple hours of unnecessary tinkering on Saturday evenings and Sunday mornings.
Instead, Iām sticking to my favorite core plays, tailing smart people like JMToWin and the Establish The Million crew, and seeing how my hand-built lineups grade out in The Solver sims from a projected R.O.I. standpoint.
Streamlining this process and reducing tinkering time also makes Sunday mornings way less hectic when Iām trying to ship the Fantasy Life newsletter and prep for the GPP Cram shows.
Now letās see if we can keep things rolling in Week 3ā¦
