A roundup of random things on my radar…
⏺ Another album of the year contender. It will be tough for anything to top Dijon’s Baby, but this new Geese album Getting Killed is getting played non-stop these days at Overzet HQ. Some of my other fantasy bros (Nez and Jakob) are also on board, which is fun. Getting Killed (which, btw, is a great album to toss on after a rough DFS week) feels like such a throwback to the heyday of mid-2000s indie rock. There are so many influences on his sleeve. At times I hear Radiohead, other times Talking Heads, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, etc., but it still feels so fresh. Highly recommend.
🪂 A quick hack for back pain. I deal with lower back pain from time to time and recently discovered that a bar hang (literally just a straight dead hang from a pull-up bar) was extremely helpful in alleviating some of the pain. In addition to the spinal decompression, it’s also really good for grip strength (and way harder than you’d imagine when you first start). I’ve been working my way up from 30 to 45 to 60 seconds over the past few weeks.
🧮 An entire portfolio snapshot. The legend PD continues to ship new features for best ball players over at BBMDB. In addition to adding Battle Royale support, he also rolled out a new feature where you can see an advance rate snapshot for your entire portfolio. Solid start to the year so far for me.
🪑 Sunday Nights on HBO. I’m very excited for the season finale of Task on Sunday, but perhaps even more excited for new episodes of The Chair Company, the new Tim Robinson show. It feels like it picked up right where the movie Friendship left off, which is all I could ever ask for. As usual, if you like Tim, you’ll love this. If not, you won’t!
☁ Blue skies. I barely use X anymore outside of news hawking and promoting stuff, but it’s become entirely useless for the latter. I’m going to start posting on bluesky more to see if links actually get shared. You can follow me here.
🪓 Everyone loves a second chance. I’ve had a lot of fun playing Survivor (and TD Survivor) this year, although I lost most of my entries the week the Cardinals blew it vs. the Titans. Luckily, we just fired up a second-chance Swolecast Survivor and TD Survivor leagues. Sign up before they lock on Sunday.
🏀 Hoops returning? There’s a free gimme pick in the Underdog lobby right now for Kevin Durant. Use it before tip off on the 21st. Btw, new customers (use promo code Pete) get $100 in bonus funds simply for playing $5. A good double dip play with the gimme imo.
