🥂 The Final Drafts

In this week's P.O. Box:

A little over four months ago I decided that I would stream all 150 of my Best Ball Mania IV drafts and today it all comes to a close with one final marathon stream where I will complete my seven remaining drafts.

To celebrate the occasion, I booked a murderer’s row of fun guests who I’ve yet to draft with this season:

I know talking about the quick passage of time is right up there on the trite Mt. Rushmore with discussing the weather, but, holy hell, this summer absolutely flew by.

The writing was on the wall for a best ball explosion in 2023 when we started drafting teams in February and the action did not disappoint.

Here’s an unexhaustive rundown of what’s transpired over the past few months:

• Best ball and analytic nerds rushed in droves to pour over the existing data and solve this new game before everyone else

• We juggled the second year of Underdog Cardio Club while also streaming

• We brought back the Randomizer best ball drafts for Season 4

• We settled into weird rituals on Best Ball Breakfasts that involved ASMR coffee pours and “feeding the ducks”

• We utilized the Fantasy Life Best Ball Hub and Michael Dubner’s tools to review our portfolio at the half way point and landed on a few key objectives for the remaining 75 drafts

• We set a record for the World’s Fastest Slow Draft

• We drafted with the defending champ Pat Kerrane and the godfather of Zero RB, Shawn Siegele, and were forced to take RBs while simultaneously trying to escape WR Avalanches

• We helped host the first ever “Best Ball Data Bowl” with the fellas at Fantasy Data Pros and enjoyed some truly innovative findings

• And of course, we closely studied and documented the highly evolved species that is the 2023 best ball bro

In the process, we also hit 15k subs on the channel, an arbitrary metric goal I set out to accomplish in May, and was proud to hit last week.

And now we celebrate while putting a bow on hot best ball summer.

There will be mimosas, snipes, and a few special surprises at the end.

🎡 The Brett Kollmann Randomizer. Brett Kollmann, a man who definitely knows ball, joined me for the Randomizer finale where we became shirt brothers, drew up plays, and improved our sets.

🏈 A busy week at Fantasy Life. Wrote about 2 future superstars you need to draft, fallout from the JT trade, and 2 trendy picks to pump the brakes on.

🚢 A high stakes NFFC draft for $250,00 with Davis Mattek. The Ship Chasing crew draft a team in the NFFC Primetime contest with our friend Davis Mattek. We take a few RBs early and then go dumpster diving for WRs.

💀 Is DFS dying??? This week on LOLz we had pro DFS players RikkiDee & Petteytheft on for a state of the union about the DFS industry and whether the ecosystem is dying.

🍹 Best Ball After Dark w/ Bill Barnwell. Had a blast talking about best ball, Bill’s start at Grantland, and his deliverables at ESPN. We also drafted a pretty sweet team.

🏠️ The Badge Bros Backyard Brawl. The ‘Bros got their own UD contest, so I had to swing by to draft a couple.
